Between early autumn and the end of winter, mandarins account for a large share of the activity of the group's citrus growers. Hortiberia exports them from the Region of Murcia and south-eastern Spain to buying offices, importers and wholesale markets in the EU, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and other countries applying equivalent rules, with packing formats designed for both shelf and loose sale.

The mandarin season opens in September and runs to March, with availability in September, October, November, December, January, February and March. There is no supply between April and August, so programming is concentrated in seven months and opening volumes should be agreed well ahead of the season.
Sizes 3X, 2X, 1X, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are worked, allowing orders to match the selling format at destination, from large fruit for loose display to the medium and small counts used in nets and bags.
The recommended transport temperature is 4-7 °C. Mandarins are more prone than other citrus to loss of firmness and skin deterioration, so temperature control in transit has a direct effect on shelf life at destination.
The group's growers operate under GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS and the equivalent standards demanded by European chains. Every consignment keeps lot and plot traceability, with post-harvest treatments compliant with EU regulations and labelling for the destination country. Hortiberia programmes mandarins per season, with weekly review of sizes and formats as the fruit develops in the field.
The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
