Fresh chives sit within the herbs range that Hortiberia exports alongside the vegetables and fruit grown by its four member companies in south-eastern Spain. For importers and retail buying offices already sourcing Murcia produce through the group, adding fresh herbs to the same weekly programme means one supplier, one consolidated load and one set of documentation.

Chives are harvested from January to December without a seasonal break. This allows buyers to fix a stable weekly programme for the whole year, with volumes agreed per season and adjustments made as demand in each market requires.
The working format is the bunch, presented as follows:
Polystyrene protects a fine-leaved herb such as chives from knocks and temperature swings between cold store, loading bay and lorry, and the 40×30 footprint stacks cleanly on a Euro pallet. Alternative bunch weights can be discussed depending on the committed volume and the destination channel.
The recommended transport temperature is 3-4 °C, held from packing through to delivery. Chives lose turgor quickly if the cold chain is interrupted, so dispatch is organised to keep the time between harvest, cooling and loading as short as possible.
The group's growers operate under GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS, together with the equivalent standards required by European retail chains. Every consignment is identified by lot and plot of origin, with plant protection records and maximum residue limits in line with EU regulations, and labelling adapted to the requirements of the destination country.
When setting up a chives programme, Hortiberia's commercial team reviews calendar, delivery frequency and format with each customer so that the product fits the planning of the receiving platform or wholesale market.
The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
