Artichokes carry significant weight in Hortiberia's winter vegetable offer. Among the group's members is a grower that describes itself as Spain's leading artichoke exporter, with production spread across several areas of the south-east and the Spanish interior to extend the calendar. Hortiberia, based in Cartagena since 2001, markets that production to European distribution in more than 40 countries.

Artichokes are available from November to May, seven months covering the whole of winter and spring. June to October falls outside the season, so annual programmes are built around that window with weekly volume review.
Working sizes are 12, 18, 24, 36 and 48, expressed as pieces per box. Packs are built on cardboard boxes:
Flow packs are intended for the fixed-weight self-service shelf; trays answer wholesale and food service demand.
The recommended transport temperature is 1-4 °C, with an unbroken cold chain from the field. The group's growers work under GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS and the equivalent standards required by retailers, with lot and farm traceability, digital plot records and compliance with EU regulations on residues, plant protection products and labelling. Each consignment carries documentation identifying origin, lot and packing date, which allows the importer to complete goods-in checks without further enquiry.
For artichoke programmes from November to May, Hortiberia agrees sizes, format and delivery frequency with each customer before the season starts.
The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
