Orange-fleshed and strongly aromatic, the Cantaloupe is the melon with the widest spread of counts in Hortiberia's offer: nine sizes, from a large fruit for cutting in food service to a small one for sale by the piece. The group's growers prepare it for a European buyer who wants melon ready for the shelf, with sound skin and an even stage of ripeness within each box.

Cantaloupe is on the programme from October to May. It is a counter-season calendar that keeps orange-fleshed melon in the assortment through the colder months and links, in May, with the start of Galia and watermelon from the same group.
Fruit weight ranges from 700 to 1800 g. Counts available are 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 per box. Packing is in cardboard boxes of three weights:
The 5 and 6 kg boxes normally go to retail self-service; the 10/12 kg box to wholesale and central kitchens.
Transport temperature is 7-8 °C. Cantaloupe has a netted skin and ripens quickly, so cold management at origin and in transit sets the number of selling days at destination. The producers operate under standards such as GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS and the equivalent schemes demanded by large retail, with traceability by lot and field and compliance with EU rules on maximum residue levels and labelling.
Given the number of counts, each customer should define in advance the sizes they handle and the box format; with that information, Hortiberia allocates weekly production between destinations in an orderly way and can tell a buyer early when a particular size is running short in the field.
The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
