Red apples are the reference with the most pack formats in Hortiberia's fruit range: five different presentations, from the 2 kg bag to the 18 kg bushel. That breadth reflects the range of channels we serve, from the supermarket chain replenishing in bags to the central-market wholesaler working loose fruit.

Campaign from March to July
Red apples are available from March to July. Those five months cover the end of winter, the whole of spring and the start of summer, a period in which buyers can programme the reference with continuity. Between August and February we do not supply this fruit.
Sizes and five formats
We work three sizes: 65/70, 70/75 and 75/80. Packaging is in cardboard boxes, with the following options:
- 2 kg bags, for the self-service shelf.
- 15 kg loose box, for wholesalers and food service.
- 7 kg single-layer tray: 88 boxes per Euro pallet and 110 per 100×120 pallet.
- 10 kg two-layer tray: 52 boxes per Euro pallet and 65 per 100×120 pallet.
- 18 kg bushel, a traditional format for certain markets and wholesale channels.
Tray formats protect the fruit from rubbing and are the right choice when the destination is sale by the unit or as selected pieces.
Transport and assurance
Recommended transport temperature is 1-3 °C. The group's producers work under standards such as GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS and maintain traceability by lot and plot, so every pallet can be followed back to the farm of origin. Fruit is dispatched in compliance with EU regulations on maximum residue levels, labelling and plant protection products.
