Two of Hortiberia's member companies, Agromark and Cricket, have specialised in brassicas for decades, and broccoli is the centrepiece of that work. Agromark has supplied UK supermarket chains since the 1980s and describes itself as Spain's largest producer of organic brassicas; Cricket runs an EU-certified organic line alongside its conventional crop. The result for the buyer is a product available all year round, in organic and conventional, from a single exporter.

Varieties grown are Marathon, Parthenon, Monaco, Sena and Lord, with heads weighing between 300 and 660 g.
Most of the broccoli is trimmed and packed in the field, then taken through vacuum cooling, which brings the head from around 20 °C down to 3 °C in cycles of an hour or less. From there it travels at 1-4 °C, top-iced where the destination requires it, with the cold chain unbroken to the customer's depot.
Organic broccoli is certified under the EU regulation, with Cricket's line controlled by CAERM, the organic farming council of the Region of Murcia, and shipped separately from conventional product. The group's growers work under GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS as well as the equivalent standards demanded by UK and continental retailers, with lot-level traceability back to the plot and full compliance with EU residue and labelling rules.
Weekly programmes can be set with Hortiberia for any mix of formats and organic share, and adjusted as retail demand moves through the year.
The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
