Iceberg is the volume lettuce of the European trade, sold by the unit and expected on the shelf every week of the year. Hortiberia supplies it film-wrapped in a 5 kg cardboard box, in sizes 8 to 14, with heads of 280 to 480 g, in EU-certified organic and in conventional production, from the group's growers in south-east Spain.

Iceberg is graded into sizes 8, 9, 10, 12 and 14 heads per box, with head weights ranging from 280 to 480 g according to size. Retailers selling by the unit usually programme sizes 8 and 9; food service and sale-by-weight channels work more often with sizes 12 and 14.
Cardboard box with each head individually film-wrapped, in a 5 kg box for sizes 8, 9, 12 and 14. Palletisation is 60 boxes per Euro pallet and 75 per 100 x 120 pallet, the same build as other Hortiberia lettuces in the 60 x 40 box, so mixed pallets can be made up when a single line does not fill one.
Available January to December. The group's growers keep iceberg on the programme through the summer, when other southern European origins reduce their offer, by shifting cultivation between zones of the Region of Murcia and neighbouring areas.
The organic line carries EU certification and is labelled separately. Sizes, box and pallet are the same as for conventional, so the split between the two ranges can be adjusted week by week.
Transport temperature is 1-4 °C. Every consignment carries lot and farm traceability, and growers work under standards such as GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS, with compliance with EU rules on residues and labelling.
Grupo Hortiberia, headquartered in Cartagena and formed in 2001 as the commercial structure of four grower-exporter companies, programmes iceberg weekly with each customer, adjusting the size mix to the destination market.
The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
