Red Oakleaf

Organic and conventional

Red oakleaf brings colour to the leaf fixture, and buyers tend to programme it alongside green oakleaf and lollo rosso in the same weekly order. Hortiberia offers it in two sizes, 10 and 12 heads per box, in EU-certified organic and in conventional production, with the standard 60 x 40 box and pallet build common to the group's leaf lettuces.

Full product sheet

Sizes 10 and 12

Size 10 gives larger heads and fewer units per box; size 12 gives slightly smaller heads and more units. Wholesale markets and catering suppliers usually take size 10; retailers selling by the unit more often take size 12.

Packaging

60 x 40 cardboard box, each head bagged. Pallet options:

  • Euro pallet of 52 boxes, 100 x 120 pallet of 65 boxes.
  • Euro pallet of 60 boxes, 100 x 120 pallet of 75 boxes.

Availability

Red oakleaf is available from January to December. The group's growers in the Region of Murcia and nearby zones of south-east Spain cover the full year, giving the European buyer one origin for the whole season instead of separate winter and summer suppliers.

Organic and conventional

Both lines share format and calendar. The organic line carries EU certification and separate labelling, so the two ranges can be kept with one supplier and one set of lot documentation.

Transport and assurance

Transport temperature of 1-4 °C, with the cold chain controlled from packing onwards. Growers work under standards such as GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS, with lot and farm traceability and compliance with EU rules on residues and labelling, which also apply in the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway.

Grupo Hortiberia, founded in 2001 in Cartagena and present in more than 40 countries, programmes red oakleaf weekly with each retail or food service customer, adjusting the split between sizes and between organic and conventional to the destination market.

The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
