Romaine hearts are bought for yield. A food service operator or a retailer preparing romaine-based salads works with the inner leaves only, and a 120 g heart delivered trimmed and bagged removes waste and labour at destination. Hortiberia lists the line in a single pack format, in EU-certified organic and in conventional production, with supply across the twelve months of the year.

Each romaine heart has a reference weight of 120 g. The consistent unit weight simplifies portion costing in central kitchens and unit pricing on the shelf, and gives the buyer a predictable net weight per box.
Cardboard box containing a 10 x 2 bag format: ten bags of two hearts, 2 kg net per box. Palletisation is 48 boxes per Euro pallet and 60 boxes per 100 x 120 pallet. These figures let the buyer size orders in full pallets or combine romaine hearts with other Hortiberia lettuces that travel at the same temperature.
The two lines are grown and packed separately, the organic one under EU organic certification with its own labelling. Buyers running both ranges programme them with the same contact and the same lot documentation.
Available from January to December. The group's growers in the Region of Murcia and south-east Spain move production between zones through the year, which keeps romaine hearts on the weekly programme without a seasonal break.
Transport temperature is 1-4 °C, with the cold chain maintained from the packhouse. Every consignment carries lot and farm traceability. Growers work under standards such as GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS and comply with EU rules on maximum residue levels, plant protection products and labelling, which also apply in the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway.
