Peaches

From May to August, peaches from south-east Spain make up a large share of Hortiberia's stone fruit offer. The fruit comes from the group's growers, four member companies with long export experience, and is marketed from Cartagena to more than 40 countries with a clear commercial brief: the buyer receives the size, maturity and presentation agreed in the programme.

Full product sheet

When it is available

Peaches are supplied from May to August. The early calendar of the Spanish south-east brings stone fruit onto European shelves ahead of other continental origins; the first weeks tend to concentrate on medium sizes, while the main part of the season allows the full range to be worked.

Sizes and pack formats

The size scale available is 4A, 3A, AA, A, B, C and D, from largest to smallest, covering everything from display fruit to punnet formats. Packs are built on cardboard boxes:

  • 1 kg baskets for retail.
  • 8 kg loose for wholesale.
  • Single tray, 7 kg: 88 boxes per Euro pallet, 110 per 100×120 pallet.
  • Double tray, 10 kg: 52 boxes per Euro pallet, 65 per 100×120 pallet.

Transport and guarantees

Peaches are temperature-sensitive, so transport is set at 1-2 °C with an unbroken cold chain from packing onwards. The group's growers operate under GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS and the equivalent standards required by major retailers, with lot and farm traceability and compliance with EU regulations on residues, plant protection products and labelling. Documentation travels with each pallet so that goods-in checks can verify origin and packing date without further enquiry.

Trays suit display fruit and customers who want individual presentation with less pressure damage in transit; loose and basket formats cover wholesale and self-service retail, and both can be combined in the same load to match the mix required at destination.

Peach programmes are closed before May, with weekly review of sizes and volumes as the season progresses.

The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
