Pimiento - Peppers - Hortiberia

Peppers

Organic and conventional

Peppers are one of the few lines in the Hortiberia range with uninterrupted supply: the group's growers produce them twelve months a year in south-eastern Spain, in both conventional and certified organic production. For an importer or a retail buying office this means a reference that can be scheduled without seasonal gaps and with a single commercial contact for the whole year.

Availability calendar

January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December. Production spread across several growing areas in the south-east allows one cycle to follow another and keeps volume steady through the transition months, which is where price tension and service failures usually appear.

Sizes and packing formats

Sizes MM, M, G and GG are available, so the buyer can match the order to the end use: larger sizes for cutting in food service, medium sizes for the retail shelf. Packing options are:

  • Loose in cardboard box, the usual format for wholesale markets and repacking at destination.
  • Tricolour flow pack, prepared for the retail shelf with the colour mix already assembled at origin.
  • 5 kg box, palletised at 88 boxes per Euro pallet and 110 boxes per 100×120 pallet.

Logistics, cold chain and guarantees

Recommended transport temperature is 7-8 °C, a range worth holding from loading onwards to avoid chilling injury on the skin and keep firmness through to the customer's platform. The group's growers work under GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS, or under the equivalent standards required by European retail, with traceability by lot and plot and compliance with EU rules on maximum residue levels, plant protection products and labelling. The organic line carries EU certification.

For annual programmes with a weekly volume commitment, Hortiberia's commercial team can set a supply plan by size, colour and format and review it with the customer as the season progresses.

The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
