Red cabbage is graded by count, in 6, 8 and 10 heads per box, and packed in 60×40 cardboard or wooden boxes for the European winter trade. Hortiberia sources it from the brassica specialists among its member companies, including Agromark, which has grown brassicas in Torre Pacheco since 1984 and has supplied UK supermarket chains for decades. Both organic and conventional red cabbage are available.

Supply runs from December to April. Those five months match the peak of red cabbage consumption in central and northern Europe; outside them there is no availability from this origin.
Like the rest of the group's brassicas, red cabbage is largely prepared in the field and taken through vacuum cooling before dispatch, which brings the head temperature down in an hour or less without breaking the cold chain. Transport is at 1-4 °C, a range that should also be kept in the receiving warehouse to preserve leaf colour and firmness.
Organic red cabbage is certified under the EU organic regulation and travels identified and separate from conventional product. The growers operate under GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS, together with the equivalent standards demanded by UK and continental retailers, with each lot traceable to the plot and shipped in compliance with EU rules on maximum residue levels, plant protection products and labelling.
Weekly programmes for red cabbage can be agreed with Hortiberia for the December to April window, covering size mix, packing format and the share of organic product required by each customer.
The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
