Two weights, two flow-pack formats and a twelve-month calendar define the gem lettuce line at Hortiberia. The lighter head suits the self-service shelf; the heavier one reduces handling for platforms that break bulk towards central kitchens and organised catering. Both are grown by the group's member companies in south-east Spain, in EU-certified organic and in conventional production.

Both formats ship in cardboard boxes. The 10 x 2 gives a high box count per pallet and a unit weight that works for price-per-pack retailing; the 12 x 3 carries double the net weight per box for buyers who move volume rather than units.
Gem lettuce is available from January to December. Growers rotate production across zones in the Region of Murcia and south-east Spain according to the season, which keeps the line on the weekly programme when other European origins drop out.
The organic line is certified under EU rules, with separate labelling. Formats, pallet configurations and transport temperature are identical across both lines, so a buyer can run them side by side with the same lot documentation.
Transport temperature is 1-4 °C, with the cold chain unbroken from the packhouse. The group's growers work under standards such as GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS, with lot and farm traceability on every consignment and compliance with EU rules on residues, plant protection products and labelling.
Grupo Hortiberia, set up in Cartagena in 2001 as the commercial arm of four grower-exporter companies and now present in more than 40 countries, agrees weekly gem volumes and the split between formats with each customer.
The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
