Mini romaine has become a staple of European retail over recent years, valued for its single-portion size and compact, crisp leaf, and it appears in the declared range of SAT San Cayetano, one of the four grower members of Grupo Hortiberia. The group markets it at a reference weight of 150 g per head, in two bag formats, in EU-certified organic and in conventional, with availability across all twelve months.

Full product sheet

Weight and formats

Each head has a reference weight of 150 g. Packing is in cardboard boxes with two bag options:

  • Bag 10 x 1: 35 kg per box, 60 boxes per Euro pallet and 75 per 100 x 120 pallet.
  • Bag 10 x 2: 7 kg per box, 88 boxes per Euro pallet and 110 per 100 x 120 pallet.

The two-head bag is the standard self-service format; the single-head bag is aimed at operators who sell by the unit or supply food service platforms.

Calendar

January to December, with production from the group's growers in the Campo de Cartagena and other areas of the Region of Murcia. Summer continuity is one of the reasons European buying offices programme this line from a south-east Spanish origin.

Organic and conventional

Both lines ship in the same packaging and on the same calendar. The organic line carries EU certification and separate labelling.

Transport and assurance

Transport temperature of 1-4 °C. Lot and farm traceability, growers working under standards such as GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS, and compliance with EU rules on residues and labelling, which also apply in the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway. Grupo Hortiberia, headquartered in Cartagena and present in more than 40 countries, programmes mini romaine with each customer according to the weekly split between formats and ranges.

The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
