Nectarines

Nectarines share their calendar and packaging logic with peaches within Hortiberia's stone fruit range, which makes it straightforward for buyers to combine both lines in a single programme and a single load. Grupo Hortiberia, founded in 2001 and based in Cartagena, markets fruit from its four member companies to importers, buying groups and wholesalers in more than 40 countries.

Full product sheet

Season from May to August

Nectarines are supplied between May and August. The early start in south-east Spain places the fruit on European shelves ahead of other continental origins, and weekly scheduling helps match the size curve to each retailer's actual demand.

Sizes and packaging

The size scale is 4A, 3A, AA, A, B, C and D. Packs are built on cardboard boxes in these formats:

  • 1 kg baskets for retail.
  • 8 kg loose: 72 boxes per Euro pallet, 96 per 100×120 pallet.
  • Single tray, 7 kg: 88 boxes per Euro pallet, 110 per 100×120 pallet.
  • Double tray, 10 kg: 52 boxes per Euro pallet, 65 per 100×120 pallet.

Trays are intended for display fruit and for customers who value individual presentation; loose and basket formats cover wholesale and self-service retail.

Cold chain and certification

The recommended transport temperature is 1-2 °C. The group's growers work under GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS, alongside the equivalent standards required by retailers, with lot and farm traceability and compliance with EU regulations on residues, plant protection products and labelling. Every consignment leaves with origin and packing documentation to simplify goods-in checks, and the cold chain is maintained from the packhouse through to the destination platform so that the fruit arrives at the ripeness stage agreed for each customer.

Nectarine programmes can be planned together with peaches and flat peaches to optimise loads and delivery frequency through the summer.

The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
