Full product sheet

Available September to January

Pomegranates are available in September, October, November, December and January. Those five months begin at the end of summer and run into the new year, covering the period of highest demand for this fruit in Europe. For buyers programming autumn fruit, pomegranates give continuity to the assortment once stone fruit and summer berries have finished.

Sizes and palletisation

We supply sizes 12, 15, 20, 24, 30, 40 and 50, a wide range that spans large pieces for sale by the unit down to smaller sizes for weight-based formats. Packaging is in cardboard boxes with two options:

  • 5 kg box: 160 boxes per Euro pallet and 200 per 100×120 pallet.
  • 10 kg box: 72 boxes per Euro pallet and 96 per 100×120 pallet.

The 10 kg format is aimed at wholesalers and central markets; the 5 kg box suits distribution platforms that replenish stores directly.

Cold chain, traceability and regulations

Transport temperature for pomegranates is 6-8 °C, a higher range than most fruit in the catalogue and one that must be respected to avoid chilling damage to the skin. The group's producers operate under standards such as GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS, with traceability by lot and plot, and all fruit complies with EU rules on maximum residue levels, labelling and plant protection products.

A buyer wishing to add Spanish pomegranates to an autumn programme can agree sizes, format and volumes with Hortiberia before the September campaign opens.

The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
