Of the Asian leafy vegetables that have gained shelf space in European retail, pak choi is the line Hortiberia adds to its winter range with production from the group's growers in the Region of Murcia. It is a short-cycle crop, sensitive to heat, which finds suitable conditions in south-east Spain during the cold months and allows green leaf with firm white stems to be supplied to retail chains and wholesalers.

Pak choi has one of the widest windows among the group's leafy lines: October, November, December, January, February, March, April and May. Eight months of supply mean the product can be programmed from early autumn to late spring from the same origin.
It is presented in a 60×40 cardboard box with the product bagged, in two configurations:
Bagging protects the leaf in transit and reduces handling on the platform; the choice between the two formats usually depends on the destination channel and the type of shelf.
Recommended transport temperature is 1-4 °C. As a leafy vegetable with a high respiration rate, immediate cooling after harvest and an unbroken cold chain through to loading make the difference to shelf life at destination, and the group's growers apply this protocol throughout the season. Each consignment is identified by lot and plot, complies with EU residue and labelling rules, and comes from farms working under GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS or the equivalent standards required by the retail trade.
For pak choi programmes, Hortiberia's commercial team agrees format and loading cadence with each customer and reviews volumes weekly against the harvest rhythm, so that a listing opened in October can be held through to May without interruption.
The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
