Hortiberia's squash is graded by count per box, in sizes 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14, which gives buyers a straightforward way to specify everything from large fruit for food service cutting to small squash sold by the piece in retail. The group's growers produce it in the Campo de Cartagena and other areas of south-east Spain, in organic and conventional, for export to the EU and neighbouring markets during the autumn and winter season.

Squash is available from September to March. There is no supply from April to August, so programmes concentrate on the seven months when demand in central and northern Europe is strongest.
Several presentations are available to suit wholesale and retail customers:
Squash should not be shipped at low chill temperatures. The recommended range is 7-10 °C, which protects skin and flesh in transit and, if kept in the customer's warehouse, extends shelf life considerably.
Organic squash is certified under the EU regulation and kept identified from field to dispatch, separate from conventional product. The group's growers work under GLOBALG.A.P. and IFS, with every consignment traceable to lot and plot and shipped in compliance with EU rules on maximum residue levels, plant protection products and labelling, as well as the equivalent standards European retailers require.
Retailers and wholesalers handling squash through the autumn and winter can agree sizes, packaging and weekly volumes with Hortiberia's commercial team before the season opens.
The Hortiberia Group brings together the drive and experience of four market leaders from the sector in order to consolidate a project with a great future.
